Doris is one of the most outstanding REALTORS in the Santa Ynez Valley, recognized by her peers as the 2008 President of the Santa Ynez Valley Association of REALTORS, and by her loyal, impressive and long list of clients. She represents both buyers and sellers of a full range of properties, from land to townhomes to estates/ranches. Doris' work is distinguished in many important respects, with her ability to handle the most complicated financial matters being unparalleled among her peers."I treat my client's money and dreams as I would my own, producing great results." Doris brings to her work the discipline of a Harvard MBA and the compassion and sense of humor on which she was raised.
A Bit of Background:
Doris was born and raised in New York and largely educated in New England. Her undergraduate and first graduate degree were in nursing, in which she eventually held the position of assistant professor and chairman of the distinguished psychiatric nursing department at Yale University. In 1982 she was admitted to the MBA program at the Harvard Business School, where she focussed her studies on finance and marketing.
In 1984 she landed a prize position as health industry equity analyst at Hambrecht & Quist, one of the finest, focussed investment banking and venture capital companies in the country. With this, she also realized her long awaited dream of moving to California. Over the next 10 years, much of her effort was focused on investment banking and business development, involving a move from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
It was during this time that she met and married John H. Moxley III, a physician-consultant, who introduced her to the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley and its wonderful wines. They became members of the Santa Barbara Vintner's Association and bought a lovely 20-acre parcel with barn/apt. in 1989. They built their home in 1991-2. Like many of Doris' clients, Doris and Jack made the weekend commute from LA, with the prospect of peace and pleasure overcoming the anguish of traffic on the 405.
In 1994, Doris moved up full time, running a very successful consulting practice with emerging public companies. Her efforts were largely focussed on raising company valuations and raising capital in support of IPOs and secondary offerings. Her primary skill was the positioning of the companies in the market to maximize their worth, a skill that has been the bedrock of her real estate practice as well.
In 2000, with the stock market in shambles, Doris decided to close her consulting practice and move into real estate, as she firmly believed in its enduring value. She also wanted the opportunity to get more involved in the Santa Ynez Valley and to experience its richness.
Doris' real estate practice took off and has been highly successful, largely due to her unique combination of talents and skills. Her disciplined approach to marketing and pricing and her seasoned skills in finance and negotiations are wrapped in the compassion of nurse and a lover of the Santa Ynez Valley. She has and will continue to sell everything from condominiums to ranches and land, always looking for a perfect match for her buyers and a perfect exit for her sellers. One of her specialties is in what she calls transitional properties, allowing clients who have a long range plan to move to the Valley the opportunity to make their investment in steps.
As Doris looks back at the last nine years, she is amazed at the speed in which she built her practice, and truly touched by the many clients whose lives were changed through her efforts.
Doris' talent and devotion were recognized in 2003, when she was asked to become a director of the Santa Ynez Valley Association of Realtors. She was elected President in 2008.
